I have a few updates for my sons birthday party preparations:

• Booked a caterer. My best friend’s sister in law will cater for our party. The nice thing is that I just have to set a budget for her and she will plan the menu for us for 50 guests excluding the kids, which I will cook spaghetti and fried chicken lollipops.
• The cake’s photo sample is sent to my husband for him to print. We might go to the cake supplier next week.
• The invitation is done, I just need to buy papers so we can print them.
• Loots bags and Host/Magician? Check. Check. I just have to make a deposit for booking.

I can see a lot of progress. In no time invites will be distributed and we are all set. Yay!

I was thinking about the loots bags that we will give away on my son’s birthday and I saw really nice thank you cards from one of my friend’s daughter’s party and then I thought it was nice to personalize the loot bags with the tag and then I visited Ali’s blog and saw this photo…

The only thing is that I should know every child’s initials and what if 2 kids names’ start with letter A? HAHA. That can be a problem. But I only have less than 20 kids invited and some have 2 names, I will have to reconsider. But don’t you agree this loots are so cute with those letters on the stars?

As early as today, I’m looking for some party ideas fro my son’s birthday. So far I have a few items on the list already covered for the event and since this is a double celebration I will be needing a little more moolah for the party not to mention appetite suppression for me, I know food will be too much during this event and after the Holidays it will be very hard to recover. I hope I can have everything covered by March especially the caterer but so far I am definitely in love with this cake design, a few adjustment and it’s all good.

I just need to have a really big Lightning Mcqueen on top of the cake instead of the number and then instead of those race cars on the side, I might ask for the Disney CARS characters like Mater, Sally, Doc, etc. I hope Kitchen Kraft can do the job.

My friend is on the way and we are actually planning to throw a baby shower for her. I am actually tasked to make some baby shower invitations, though only a few will be invited I still want to make it special and hopefully I can draw some inspirations online for it. Another friend will be in charge for the party favors and then we are requested to bring some essentials for the baby, like feeding bottles, formula and diapers, which are practical items instead of giving the baby toys which the baby won’t need in the near future. We will all have food to bring, we are 5 who are organizing so we have to bring 2 viands for the party plus some guests who are also friends might be asked to bring anything for the party. No alcohol for this one, this is one wholesome party and we are not bringing booze. I’m excited, I love being with my friends.

I was talking to a long distance friend last night and she is about to prepare a simple birthday party for her daughter but since it’s a budgeted event she is actually concentrating to the food and the cake but we got so involved talking about insurance marketing which is what she is into right now, she just actually started as an agent and she talked about learning to be credible and have fresh ideas in their competitive world. Then we also back tracked in time and reminisced our college days when we were just carefree and no worries like vaccines, pre-schooling or diapers but we both agreed in the end that nothing compares to the experience of being a mommy even if our younger days are also fun and exciting. Anyway, after all those topics we went back to the party preparations and since she is busy being a new agent and being a mom all at the same time, I suggested to just hire a caterer, since she wants to have a simple party but with delicious food, maybe 3-5 viands is already okay then she just have to look for a nice cake and I suggested an ice cream cake, it’s like hitting 2 birds with 1 stone, you get a cake that her daughter can blow a candle with plus ice cream for everyone after singing the birthday song! She loved the idea and then I showed her my son’s birthday ice cream cake which doesn’t look different from the real cakes…

This is from Dairy Queen and I bet there are prettier and more delicious ice cream cakes in the US.
