Dreaming of Our Own Home

We have college friends who’ve been married for 5 years now, just like us and we are mighty proud that they built their new home in Paranaque. Too bad we were not able to attend the get together because of work. Boo! But we saw pictures from our friend’s Facebook page and I was so impressed of how they put up the big nice house for their family. I must agree to a friend who said they are truly an inspiration. I myself dreams of having our own home. The facade of my dream house is so clear to me already and we, the husband and I both dream of a modern home. I got nothing to do today so I was just browsing and dreaming of how this home can be a reality. I guess, God will definitely need to intervene because as of today, what we are earning is not even enough to buy ourselves our own lot. Anyway, I’ve been looking at all kinds of home interiors and I’ve been loving the walk in closets that I’ve been seeing and those theater seats for the family rooms. Two places I want to have in the house aside from the usual bedrooms, kitchen etc.I hope our dream will soon come true. God help us.

Charming Floating Residence

When I saw this home from Freshome.com, I remembered the movie Sleepless in Seattle where Tom Hank’s character lives in a similar home. It appears romantic especially during the night.

This unique project known as “Green Home & Tender” comes from Marc Even and is just one of many custom “floating home” projects that his company has designed. Here is the description of the building from the architect: “Both main and guest homes are built on state of the art concrete floats with concrete planters and built-in concrete accent walls. The balance of their homes were requested to be kept very simple, utilizing a mix of commercial/industrial with rough sawn reverse board and bat siding to give the home a country feel. The interior is very open with walls that do not go higher than 7? and floors made of re-claimed 1?x6? sanded and sealed Ship Lap Fir.

Bedroom Makeover

I talked to the engineer last Saturday and I showed him our small bedroom so he can roughly estimate how much we will spend for the makeover. I have designs in my mind and since this project is not in a hurry, I told him, I will gather enough ideas before I talk to his carpenters so we will know what to do with the bedroom and how much everything will cost. Anyway, I am still in search of ideas so far I have these in mind…

I want hanging cabinets similar to this…
Small Bedroom 4

or this…
Small Bedroom 3

then we got the idea to put our workstation under the hanging cabinets similar to this…
Small Bedroom 2

then we want slim cabinets to frame the workstation which is similar to this one…
Small Bedroom 1

We will be placing our bed to a new location as well and have hanging cabinets above it too to add more storage. We thought of having hanging cabinets because our room is very small and our son is getting bigger and we might add his own bed in the future.

Cozy Bright Apartment

This apartment from Freshome caught my attention from looking so immaculately peaceful and cozy even with all the whites and brightness in all rooms, I still find it really cozy and very elegant but hip.

The crib has no less than three bedrooms, a living room, a kitchen and two bathrooms (you can see more on the structure of this place in the photo at the bottom of the post). The living room is particularly appealing with its unusually inclined walls, its fresh color palette and a few decorating elements of great effect, such as the picture frames and the small rustic flower supports. The room is big and bright, mainly because of two large windows with overhead light in the west with a lovely view over the city rooftops. The ceiling height is impressive and the oak parquet flooring goes great with the walls which are painted in a harmonious green tone.

You can see that the apartment is not too big but it sure looks big because of the choice of colors and furniture.

Glass Pavilion House

I love many windows in our dream house. It allows light and will conserve electricity during the day. My husband agrees so when we build our dream house, the windows will be wide and you will definitely see so many glass doors and windows, maybe a glass roof as well. Who knows? Maybe we will win the lottery and build it next year! Positivity eh? :D

Anyway, I saw this very elegant Glass Pavilion House over at Freshome.com

I think it is too much tough, I mean even the bedroom and the bathroom? But I think this can be an inspiration though.

Compact Furniture

Condominiums are very popular these days. We see constructions everywhere. We go to the malls and there are real estate agents giving us leaflets about a certain condominium being constructed somewhere. My Aunt from Chicago bought one unit from a very popular company and it was really expensive, when they viewed the unit it is very small, they said it is just perfect for sleeping. In my opinion, if you want a functional small condo, you have to leave it to the experts to interior decorate the place or buy specific multi-functional furniture such as the compact furniture.

Family House in California

I saw a magnificent house structure that is modern in design but with a cozy feel at Freshome. I love how the architect and the interior designer designed the whole house from the outside to the inside.

See the structure of the whole house as if it is a puzzle out together.

And here are my favorite cozy spaces inside the house…

I love the green accents in each room, I think it is very calming and fresh.

Look at the rest of the house here.
