Room Makeover

We live with my parents, we can’t afford our own house. Yeah! I know. Anyway, while we are living with them, I am planning to renovate the room because it is getting quite crowded for the hubby, our son and me. What do I have in mind? Good thing, I don’t have a huge problem like my friend who is looking for basement flooring that she wants for their huge basement. She lives in California and luckily they have a big house there and the basement is a wreck and she wants it renovated. My only problem is closet space without sacrificing too much space in our tiny bedroom, but definitely, I want this space for my son…

I wish we have IKEA here in our country, then it would be very easy for me to do this little nook for the little one. I will be browsing home stores here and maybe I can get a few items similar to this one, the table is not needed, he still has a sturdy table that we can use.

Obsessing with Pinterest

I’ve been obsessing with Pinterest lately and so much creative juices are in there it’s overwhelming. What’s nice is that it caters to all interests like Art, Architecture, Health, Wedding, etc. Anyways, I’ve been pinning so much about Homes and I want to share some that I dream of having in our own house.

Home office

I would love to have a small office and maybe replace the day bed with a long table by the window.

laundry room

I dream of having a small space for laundry area. I never enjoyed doing the laundry but with this room, I will.

BedCloset
Love the colors of the bedroom plus that walk in closet is perfect, if ever we have a not so big house in the future, we can still include a walk in closet. Anything is possible!

Kitchen
Love how organized the kitchen is, even if it shows a busy kitchen will all the stuff, it still has that well-kept feel and even with that tight space, the kitchen looks amazing with that counter! I can feel the shabby chic feel I want in our home with this kind of interior!

Small Space, Making It Pretty

We have a small room and I always de-clutter to make more space because we are getting more stuff each day especially when we have our son who has so much toys plus books. Anyway, I found this article over at Freshome.com.

How to maximize space in a Small Apartment:

small apartment

Make your space multifunctional: Whether you live in a one bedroom, studio, or if you just have a lot of roommates, your apartment should be able to utilize one space for several functions. Your dining room table could serve as an office for your laptop when not eating, dining table at meal time, and possibly a work surface when doing hobbies and crafts. Utilize kitchen bar area for sitting, entertaining, dining, and extra work surface space when cooking. In your living room, use futons, and sleeper sofa beds for a couch in the day, and a sleeping area at night.

Utilize vertical and hidden storage: In a small space vertical and hidden storage is your best friend. For storing collectibles, books, and displaying decor, utilize tall display storage, shelving over doorways, and open shelving throughout your apartment. Hidden storage under beds, hanging organization accessories on the back of doors, and installing vertical storage in cabinets, can drastically maximize your storage capacity. In clothing closets, hang shelving in double tiers, and at varying heights to get the most of your closet storage.

Use light and color to your advantage: To make your apartment look larger, let ample light into your home as much as possible. Also use light colors, neutrals, and muted tones to maximize visual space. When your home looks larger, you will feel better and more at home in your small space. Try to avoid compartmentalizing your rooms with color. Use a unifying color throughout your home, like a neutral and define spaces with accent walls or with varying hues of the same color. This will make your apartment visually read as one large space.

Bring in eye catching furnishings: Even though your space is small doesn’t mean you can’t maximize on style! The great thing about having a small apartment is you don’t need a lot of furniture. For the few pieces that you do have, make them special and eye catching. A beautiful headboard in your bedroom, or even an entertainment center that commands attention from all your guests, can make your apartment interiors fun and enjoyable to be in. Don’t forget your walls too. Artwork, murals, and wall decals can make your walls come alive with color and life without much work. The more visually appealing your decor and furnishings, the easier it will be to remember how larger your space actually is.

I hope these tips helped a lot with small houses or apartments.

Dreaming of Our Own Home

We have college friends who’ve been married for 5 years now, just like us and we are mighty proud that they built their new home in Paranaque. Too bad we were not able to attend the get together because of work. Boo! But we saw pictures from our friend’s Facebook page and I was so impressed of how they put up the big nice house for their family. I must agree to a friend who said they are truly an inspiration. I myself dreams of having our own home. The facade of my dream house is so clear to me already and we, the husband and I both dream of a modern home. I got nothing to do today so I was just browsing and dreaming of how this home can be a reality. I guess, God will definitely need to intervene because as of today, what we are earning is not even enough to buy ourselves our own lot. Anyway, I’ve been looking at all kinds of home interiors and I’ve been loving the walk in closets that I’ve been seeing and those theater seats for the family rooms. Two places I want to have in the house aside from the usual bedrooms, kitchen etc.I hope our dream will soon come true. God help us.
