Wondering about Japan

Still Praying for Japan

For a first world country, I wonder how is Japan doing amidst all the trials they are going through. I haven’t watched the news lately because I’ve been so busy with my own matters. But still the people in Japan are in my thoughts and in my prayers, especially the Filipinos who opted to stay there with their love ones.

Health Benefits of Coffee

Whether it’s hot or cold, I love coffee. Yes it is very addicting but I try to limit my intake to 1-2 cups a day just to be sure. But coffee like other things when taken moderately has it’s benefits.

The Coffee

A growing body of research shows that coffee drinkers, compared to nondrinkers, are:

* less likely to have type 2 diabetes, Parkinson’s disease, and dementia
* have fewer cases of certain cancers, heart rhythm problems, and strokes

“There is certainly much more good news than bad news, in terms of coffee and health,” says Frank Hu, MD, MPH, PhD, nutrition and epidemiology professor at the Harvard School of Public Health.

But (you knew there would be a “but,” didn’t you?) coffee isn’t proven to prevent those conditions.

Researchers don’t ask people to drink or skip coffee for science’s sake. Instead, they ask them about their coffee habits. Those studies can’t show cause and effect. It’s possible that coffee drinkers have other advantages, such as better diets, more exercise, or protective genes.

So there isn’t solid proof. But there are signs of potential health perks — and a few cautions.

If you’re like the average American, who downed 416 8-ounce cups of coffee in 2009 (by the World Resources Institute’s estimates), you might want to know what all that java is doing for you, or to you.

Here is a condition-by-condition look at the research.

Getting Help for a Lawsuit

A few friends from the US who had a problem about their confidential credit information got a lot of help from the O’Hanlon, McCollom & Demerath law firm. The lawsuit is actually called the TransUnion Class Action Lawsuit, which is a popular credit information fraud between the years 1987 to 2000. The disclosure of these information is a direct violation of the Federal Credit Reporting Act and TransUnion is a credit infomation who violated it by selling credit information to target marketing companies. Thanks to the expertise of O’Hanlon, McCollom & Demerath, our friends got the TransUnion claims without so much problem except the long processing of the cases which was really not so much of a problem because they worked around their schedules to attend to that. They got the justice and we are happy!

Unemployment in My Country

We have a new President since yesterday and I wonder how will he solve the problem about unemployment?!? Among other problems which are by the way, a lot, unemployment is one of the problems that needed to be addressed ASAP. Without a job, a person and his family can go hungry figuratively and literally and it is not a joke. It is never easy to look for a job especially with the very thorough employment screening, they look to your profile background, education attainment and a lot more, narrowing the chances of you getting hired. They are certain standards in my country that I wished to be changed, for example is the job experience. Most employers are seeking for 3 or more years of job experience and how will you expect a fresh graduate to have that in his resume? Another is age, when I went to the United States, I saw bank tellers, yeah those people who serve the customers and are the front liners in a bank who are ages 40 and above. You will never see that in this country. When you are aged 35 or above and recently quit your job and seeks a new one, will never get a chance to be hired again here. But I’m not losing hope, I hope the new government look into this because every Filipino, educated or even just capable, deserves a chance.

Busy Homemaker

Definitely I’m busier when I’m at home. Time seems to be running too slow when I’m at work but during the weekends, hours fly by so fast. I slept for about 2 hours, my husband and my son are still in dreamland and it’s but just normal since it’s only 1:04 am in my world but I woke up in the middle of my sleep and thought of all the tasks I need to finish over the weekend and it got me so awake that I had a hard time going back to sleep so I grabbed my laptop and started my weekend. Of course, I will try to go back to bed, my husband will be furious if he discovers I only slept for 2 hours knowing I will have a very long day later. I actually don’t need diet pills to lose weight, just being so busy and not getting enough sleep make me lose weight already. I have a list of what to do for Saturday and Sunday and I wish to accomplish them before a new workweek comes again. Great thing my husband is always there, I don’t need to ask for my son’s nanny to help me in watching over the tot when I need to do something important at home. Busy day starts at 1… 2… 3… ::poof::

One of My Comfort Food

Last week I experienced a ride on a roller coaster! I got nervous… It was like my heart fell on the floor. Then I got really mad, I was ready to kick the nanny out of the house and very much decided that I will be a SAHM. Then I was so happy of spending one whole day with my boy who often tested my patience but it was all good and then husband went to an overnight team building in Taytay so I missed him during the night and then I drove alone on the way to work the next day and then ate lunch alone as well. So I decided that lunch to just eat out and what comfort food I had last Friday? Where else but at my favorite Mexican restaurant, Mexicali.

And since I’m on a diet, I skipped ordering that large platter of Enchilada or my favorite Vegetable Burrito but instead I got these…

Chili Cup. Hubby and I love this!

Grilled Shrimp in Soft Taco

My Iced Tea with our favorite Mexicali Sauces, Chili Sauce and Garlic Sauce on my table.

I had it at Mexicali SM Supermarket in Araneta, they had a soft opening last week. I bet we will be frequenting this place. We love Mexicali.
